The Lawrence County Commissioners announced in 2009 the establishment of the State Certified County Building Department. The Building Department serves as the building permit authority for all commercial applications within the borders of the County. 
This does not include residential structures.


Building owners, developers, and contractors are encouraged to call the Lawrence County Building Department prior to beginning any project within the County in order to verify permitting and inspection procedures.

The Building Department is working in conjunction with the Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District.

ALLOW A MINIMUM OF FOUR WEEKS FOR PLAN REVIEW

**Please note:  It is the responsibility of the applicant to check with the City/Village/Township, in which the project is located, for additional permitting or requirements.  This may include fees, zoning, stormwater, floodplain and fire department regulations to name a few.  Additionally, all plumbing permits must be obtained through the State of Ohio - State Code Compliance.**
