What is a rain garden?
A rain garden is a constructed shallow depression designed to catch rainwater. All the rainwater collected in a rain event will soak into the ground within 48 to 72 hours. Rain gardens can catch stormwater runoff from roofs, driveways, sidewalks, and streets. Rain gardens usually contain native plants that can tolerate standing water for hours.  The soil and plants will help remove possible pollutants that can be in the rainwater.
