The planning commission is required by Chapter 713 of the Ohio Revised Code. The purpose of the planning commission is to regulate the development of subdivisions in Lawrence County, using Chapter 711 of the Ohio Revised Code. The planning commission also regulates the subdividing of parcels of land that are less than five acres. The planning commission meets once a month to review plans and conduct business. The Lawrence Soil and Water Conservation District is responsible for the administrative duties of the planning commission.
